S&G’s Perfect Ten: Gorgeous nude palette from the highstreet

Let’s be honest here, is there anybody still out there who actually needs another neutral palette? Probably not, but that doesn’t stop anybody coveting more beautiful brown, copper and gold tones. My newest purchase is this year’s Soap and Glory The Perfect Ten eye shadow palette – and it’s golden (excuse the pun).

Actually what’s different about this palette is that it isn’t very gold at all. There some gorgeous rosy bronze shades and some plummy shadows amongst a few handy mattes, champagne highlights and a black. So this feels a bit like the Urban Decay Naked 3 or L’Oreal’s La Palette Nude Rose, but I think this one is a little more universally wearable and less pink.

All ten neutral shadows are really well pigmented, and buttery soft. They blend really well and last well on my eyes too. I love the range of shades in this palette; at the top end, Minky and Copper will help you create a pretty soft copper eye look, and at the bottom Damsel and Plumtious are perfect for a purple smoky eye.

I love that the matte shades in the palette are nicely pigmented too as this can be a let down in high street palettes. My only real quibble with the palette is that I’m not sure it needs two highlights. Cream Soda and Moon Mist are really similar. Cream Soda has a slightly pink sheen which is beautiful, but when you’re wearing them you can’t tell the difference.

Aside from the actual shadows, I love the packaging of this palette. It’s only cardboard, but last years palette was housed in the same way and has lasted really well. The bonus of the cardboard packaging is that it’s lightweight, very slim and actually less likely to snap or crack than cheap plastic. The large mirror is great too and I actually like the included brush. There’s no crappy sponge applicator, and while the double ended brush is fairly small, it’s great for an inner corner highlight or smoking out your under eye.

This palette is fast becoming a favourite. I still use last year’s version regularly but as the shades in this are really different it’s a perfect pairing. If you haven’t picked one up yet I highly recommend it as they’re only around for Christmas. I think they’re sold out on Boots online but I’ve spotted lots in store.
