Seriously hydrating balms for super soft lips

Nuxe Reve de Miel, Ren Vita Mineral Lip Balm
Keeping your lips dry come winter can be a nightmare. The biting weather takes it's toll and all of the deep berry tones you're probably slathering on won't help either. Personally I suffer from dry lips all year round and have a minor panic if I find myself outside without a balm. I've tried and tested (and possibly consumed) more lip balms that I can remember over the year and ended up with two solid staples that ensure my lips stay nourished through the harsh winter weather.

Nuxe Reve de Miel is a wonderfully thick balm. It's a really unique texture with a matte finish, it isn't glossy or balmy but feels hydrating and lasts a long time. It's one of the few balms I can out on before bed and keep on until the morning. The scent is gorgeous too, I think it smells of lemon curd. It took me a long time to fork out for this balm but it really is worth the investment. You get a whopping 15g of product in the tub and still only need to apply a small amount. It's priced at £9.50 but frequently on sale for 1/3 off at Escentual and FeelUnique. I've been through at least four tubs of this

Ren's Vita Mineral Lip Balm is newer to me, I picked it up in June in the July issue of Red magazine. This is more of your classic lip balm, with a slightly glossy gel texture. It's still fairly thick and also lasts overnight. As much as I love the Nuxe Reve de Miel, I think I might have to pick this as my favourite. This feels like it penetrates deeper into the lips making them really soft while the Nuxe sits on the lips a little more and locks moisture in. Being in a squeezy tube is also a bonus as it's easier to apply on the go. You get 15ml of product for £9 which is pretty good honestly and it will last a good while.

Armed with both of these you'll be kept hydrated in the lip department throughout the season. It's still a good idea however to exfoliate your lips from time to time if things are getting a bit flaky. Sugar scrubs are great but personally I like to use a damp clean flannel (usually the corner of my current facial flannel). I just rub this gently over my lips after I've cleansed my face and then follow up with either the Nuxe or Ren and voilĂ  - kissably soft lips are mine.
