Finding base products for very pale skin can be tricky. As a pale girl I spent a long time without foundation because I just couldn't find any that matched my pale skin. Thankfully I now have a selection of base products that suit my light complexion and I wanted to share them.
Firstly, looking at foundation my favourite has to be YSL's Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation in BR10. I love this light and dewy foundation for smoothing over blemishes and redness and giving a beautiful glow to my skin. The light coverage of this foundation and the wide shade range means that this blends into my pale skin seamlessly but it's light reflecting properties brighten the skin and smooth over flaws. I find that a lot of foundations for pale skin can be really flattening and can wash me out but this one suits me perfectly. I struggle with dry skin too but this dewy foundation smooths over dry patches and doesn't cake at all.

My other go to is much more affordable - L'Oreal's True Match Foundation in Rose Ivory (R1-C1) is a beautiful match for my fair skin. The bottle I have is the older formula but I hear the new version is even better. This is fuller coverage and does a great job of evening out my skin tone and hiding redness and blemishes without being cakey.

Looking at concealer I know that Collection's Lasting Perfection concealer is the obvious choice but it can cake up on my dry skin. I love Seventeen's Stay Time concealer in Extra Fair. This is a lot more moisturising and dewy than Collection's concealer, but still covers well and works wonderfully underneath my eyes.

For something more heavy duty I love Vichy's Dermablend concealer in Porcelain. This is a really thick concealer that will cover all blemishes. I believe some people even use it to cover up tattoos. I use it for pinpoint concealing and it's pale colour blends seamlessly into my fair skin. It also works well as an eye primer.  Unfortunately the packaging and colours of this have changed a bit but I hope that Opal is equally as pale.

Moving onto powders I have two favourites. Firstly from Bourjois the Java Rice Powder or Poudre de Riz. This is a beautiful translucent setting powder that I use to set foundation and concealer without mattifying my skin. It does contain glitter but I don't find that it transfers on the skin, instead it's a wonderfully glowy powder, perfect for brightening pale skin without a bronzer.

I also love Rimmel's Stay Matte powder. I've used this for almost a decade and I keep going back to it. The finely milled powder mattifies the skin but doesn't cake up. I flip between the translucent and peach glow shades. Both work well for my pale complexion.

Adding a little bit of colour can be a dangerous game for pale skinned girls, I like to opt for cream blushes for a healthy natural glow. Mac Factor's Miracle Touch Creamy Blusher in Soft Pink is perfect for adding subtle colour to pale cheeks.

Finally, something to brighten up tired eyes. Rimmel's Scandal Eyes Kohl Liner in Nude is perfect for waking up sleepy eyes as it covers all redness in the waterline. I love this for opening up and widening my eyes as black liners can look really dark on my pale skin.

There are my top foundation and base picks for pale skin, from high end to high street there are plenty to choose from. What are your favourite products for a fair complexion?

  1. I looove the lasting perfection concealer but I know what you mean about getting a bit cakey so the Seventeen concealer sounds great! x
